Know the signs

A small leak never stays a small leak

Roofs give you plenty of warning before they cost you a ceiling. If you have noticed any of these, it is worth getting someone up there before the next downpour.

  • A stain on the ceiling — One damp patch after heavy rain is the roof telling you where it is getting in. It does not stop on its own.
  • Mortar in the gutters — Grit and lumps of mortar washing down means the ridge caps are letting go and need re-bedding.
  • Faded, chalky tiles — When the colour has gone and the surface is porous, the tiles start soaking up water instead of shedding it.

What a restoration actually involves

Three stages, no mystery

STAGE 01

Repair first

Broken and slipped tiles come out, valleys and flashings get sorted, and the ridge caps are re-bedded. There is no point painting a roof that is still letting water in.

STAGE 02

Clean, prime, protect

The whole roof gets a high-pressure wash back to a sound surface, then primer. Your solar panels are covered before any of it starts.

STAGE 03

Two coats, and it is done

Two coats of quality coating over the top — Dulux Acratex, Nutech or Shieldcoat — then the site gets cleaned up properly. Backed by the 10-year warranty.

How much does a roof restoration cost?

It depends on the size and pitch of the roof and how much repair work it needs first. Logan will come out, get up there and have a proper look, then give you a written quote. The inspection and quote do not cost you anything.

How long does a restoration take?

It depends on the size of the roof and how much repair work it needs first. The order is always the same — repairs, then the wash, then primer and two coats, with drying time between. Logan will give you a timeframe with the quote, and let you know if rain is going to push it back.

Do you guarantee the work?

Yes. There is a 10-year warranty, and a new roof also comes with a complimentary 5-year maintenance service so somebody keeps an eye on it rather than leaving you to notice a problem yourself.

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes — Licence Roofer 342484C, ABN 84 651 674 378, and fully insured. We are also registered with Dulux.

What about my solar panels?

They get covered before any spraying starts. Several of the reviews mention it because it is the bit people worry about most, and it is standard for us.
